Personal

Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, I arrived at the University of Virginia in 1997 with the intent to study physics and became interested in experimental condensed matter physics. Four years later, I graduated and came to North Carolina State, where I joined the Nemanich group. This has given me the chance to pursue research concerning single electron tunneling in quantum dots as well as a study of the the Schottky barrier of silicide islands.

I passed my qualifying exam in the spring of 2003 and received my continuing master's degree in December of 2003. I successfully passed my oral preliminary exam on February 23, 2007. I successfully defended my disseration on November 6, 2007 and received my Ph.D. on December 19, 2007.

Since graduating, I have been involved in research related to the formation and characterization of graphene films. I have been offered an ASEE Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. The postdoc will start in July, 2008.
